A cystic fibrosis (C.F.) patient and bilateral lung transplant recipient, Nicole connects to the audience by comparing the reader’s washer and dryer to a pair of lungs. The reader experiences a transplant patient’s thought processes, emotions, and health decline through the motions of an everyday chore. Accompanied by her playful doodles, Nicole’s short story will make even the most complex journey seem like a relatable milestone.
