Premise

I am so excited to announce our upcoming children’s book, ABC Checkup. Most people know that I am a very experienced patient. My chronic illness journey “officially” began at the age of 5, and I’ve been living at doctor’s offices ever since. Becoming a foster mother only increased the time spent at clinics and urgent cares. Seeing my foster children’s anxieties through the eyes of a parent reminded me that children still experience anxiety at doctors’ offices. Joel Selby, Ashley Selby, and I wanted to remedy this fear with a colorful and funny new story! Joel and Ashley (@JoelAndAshleyDraw) are such talented artists. Their colorful works really bring this story to life.

Meet The Illustrators

Joel and Ashley Selby

We’re an illustration team who have been drawing together (and married!) since we graduated in 2008 with design degrees. We love bright colors, cute characters, and stories full of imagination and whimsy and heart. We work and live on the coast in North Carolina with our two girls, three cats, 20ish chickens, and a giant Great Pyrenees dog. When we’re not drawing, we’re usually out working on our backyard micro-farm.
