“My Pants” Book Review by Grace Jackson

October 9, 2021February 15, 2022 NicoleUncategorizedTagged Children's Book, My Pants, Review

“Which is your favourite apparel that sits on your body? Do you like a specific kind of dress or do you love any particular part of the dress you wear? For starters as a child for some reason, I was always concerned about my pants. I loved wearing trousers of full length and made a nasty face when I was forced to wear any half-length trousers. Well, that may not be the case now but I sure do have mixed memories about the same *Chuckles*. So coming across a book which is full of pants is what called to me and I was instantly glued.

I love reading books made for children, they have this special kind of aura emanating from them that is not much otherwise seen in other books. The sense of serenity and the pure joy in unequivocal. At first look I had the same question in my mind, What is this one about? They sure make a lot of weird books today but most of the weird ones turn out to be enjoyable so why not try it too. There is a phrase, “Don’t make a mole-hill out of this”. Well, the little child is sitting on a molehill of clothes and makes it look like she is atop a hill conquering her demons, very apt illustration because firstly the child is seriously concerned about her pants and even if the hill of pants or Pants at random is just another mole-hill to others, it sure has a lot of significance in her life.

Coming down to the story, it is about little Celana, a child with whom all of us can relate. A little jovial child that is deeply concerned about the pants she wears. And she is anxious about it. In this book, we are talking about important issues. Firstly how a child feels comfortable and secondly anxiety doesn’t see age. Anxiety can be a big hurdle in the way of overcoming childhood, teenage years and then becoming a successful adult. If not conquered there might be deep consequences. Talking bookish terms, the book contains a lot of methods that we might learn and teach our little one’s who are neurodivergent.”
